Set of column and bust of Marcus Aurelius. Reproduction of the bust made of molded marble (marble powder bonded with resin). Doric capital column made of molded marble (marble powder plus binders).

The finish is done with aging patinas based on natural earth tones that give it the appearance of a sculpture embellished by the passage of time.

This bust of Marcus Aurelius is a recreation based on an original statue from the 2nd century BC, which is exhibited in the Museum of Ephesus, Turkey.

Marcus Aurelius (121 AD – 180 AD), the philosopher-emperor, one of the so-called “Five Good Emperors,” jointly ruled the Roman Empire with co-emperor Lucius Verus from 161 to 180 AD, and is also remembered as one of the most notable Stoic philosophers. His best-known work is the “Meditations,” a journal written during his campaigns in which he reflected his thinking, focused on the constant pursuit of virtue and wisdom and its implementation in everyday life.

Marcus Aurelius faced numerous significant challenges during his reign, including military conflicts, epidemics, and internal crises. Amidst difficulties, he was able to maintain the stability of the empire despite threats both external and internal. Stoic philosophy helped him cope with the pressures of government, following its precepts that urge to accept adversities with serenity and to cultivate virtues such as generosity and justice, self-discipline, and moderation.
