Brother of Zeus, the king of the gods, who entrusted him with the regency of the seas and oceans. He was also the god of earthquakes. He usually appears in sculpture, painting or mosaics, armed with a trident, sometimes in a chariot pulled by horses or sea animals, either real, such as dolphins, or fantastic, such as hippocampi (horses with fish tails). His symbolic animal is the horse.
