Description

Reproduction of the Rosetta stone, made of reconstituted marble (resin and marble) with an imitation black basalt finish.  The patinas of ageing are applied with natural earth.

Measurements: Height: 92 cm. Width 72 cm. Depth: 5 cm.

Pre-plastered to hang on the wall.

Now in the British Museum. The Rosetta Stone in its present state is an irregularly shaped slab of compact black basalt, measuring about 114 cm long, 72 cm wide and 28 cm thick. It was found in July 1799 at a site near the mouth of the great branch of the Nile that flows through the western delta to the sea, not far from the village of Rasnid, or as the Europeans call it, Rosetta.
