Eye of Horus on a black base, the original is located in the Louvre Museum. The Eye of Horus is one of the most famous symbols of ancient Egypt. The Eye of Horus was popularly used as an amulet by the ancient Egyptians.

The origin of the Eye of Horus can be found in the Egyptian myth of the gods Seth and Osiris. The Ancient Egyptians believed that Osiris was the king of Egypt, and that his brother Seth craved his throne. By deception, Seth managed to assassinate his brother and became the new king. However, the goddess Isis, wife of Osiris, managed to bring her husband back to life temporarily through magic, getting pregnant with Horus.
