Diogenes of Sinope (412 – 323 BC), also called Diogenes the Cynic, led a life of austerity and mortification. Regarded as one of the most prominent philosophers of the cynical school. The cynics, taking as models to nature and animals, proposed a model of ethical behavior that they considered fundamental to achieve happiness.
