Sculpture made of reconstituted marble (marble powder + binder). Finished with an aging patina.Sizes without base:

The Dame of Elche is one of the most famous sculptures in Iberian art. It dates from the IV-V century B.C. The original is made of limestone and was found in Elche (Alicante-Spain). It is currently in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid.The sculpture, with very well perfected features, may represent some divinity, although today archaeologists are inclined to think that it was a lady of the aristocracy who was later deified.The dame wears jewels characteristic of the Iberians such as wheels covering her ears, necklaces and crowns with small chains and filigrees. In the last analysis a small fragment of gold leaf was discovered in one of the folds of the back. This suggests that the sculpture’s jewellery was covered with gold leaf.
