The universality of Queen Nefertiti’s fame is not unrelated to the modernity of her features, the swan-like neck, the provocative cheekbones and chin. The eye make-up, the lipstick and the smoothness of the complexion are no less modern. Found by Borchardt in 1912, she was a model made by the sculptor Thutmes for other portraits of the queen, and perhaps because that was her sole purpose, she never had her left eye on. In addition to her willow-leaf necklaces, the queen wears a model of a blue crown designed specifically for her, with the prothorax of the oreus highlighted on the forehead.
