Moulded alabaster bas-relief.
Between 1434 and 1435 the Paduan jurist Giovani Francesco Capodilista used his spare time to write the history of his family. He had the biographies illustrated with imaginary equestrian portraits. The bas-reliefs of the feudal knights are based on this codex, a miniature masterpiece. The mixture of gold and silver leaf, the colourful coats of arms and the fine design of the frame give the piece its highest artistic value.
