This statue is a small-scale reproduction of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, 2nd-3rd century BC, originating from Greece. Currently exhibited at the Louvre Museum, Paris.

The original sculpture carved in marble measures 3.28 meters in height. It was discovered on the island of Samothrace, broken into multiple pieces, so it had to be patiently reconstructed.

The Victory or Nike of Samothrace is a round sculpture belonging to the Rhodian school, Hellenistic period. The original was a figurehead made of marble around 190 BC and comes from the sanctuary of the Cabeiri in Samothrace. Some experts attribute it with some probability to Pithokritos of Rhodes. It takes its name from the place of its discovery in 1863 on the island of Samothrace (Samothraki in Greek), and it was brought to light by Charles Champoiseau, French consul and amateur archaeologist.
