Reproduction of a statue of the goddess Venus holding an apple. Venus was the goddess of love and beauty in Rome, equivalent to the Greek Aphrodite. The image alludes to the episode of the Trial of Paris, which was named by Zeus as a judge in a dispute between the goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite over a golden apple offered to the most beautiful of goddesses. The sculpture represents Venus holding the apple of discord, after being chosen by Paris when she promised him Helena´s love.
