Reproductions of sculptures inspired by neoclassical art. Handcrafted in Spain. Ideal for interior decoration (living rooms, lobbies, libraries, and offices) and for outdoors, terraces, and gardens, resistant to harsh weather conditions.
The sculpture we offer enjoys special elegance and delicacy, expressed in its lines. It is an adaptation of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s statue of Adonis. The original is located in the Thorvaldsen Museum, Copenhagen (Denmark).
In Greek mythology, Adonis was the result of an incestuous relationship between the princess Myrrha and her father, King Cinyras. Myrrha enclosed her newborn son in the trunk of a tree, where he was found by the goddess Aphrodite. Adonis grew up into a beautiful young man, and Aphrodite fell in love with him. After his tragic death in a hunting accident, Aphrodite contended for his return with Persephone, queen of the underworld, until they agreed that Adonis would spend half of the year with Aphrodite in the world of the living, and the other half in Hades.
The decoration of our home acquires its own personality and expression when we incorporate reproductions that express the beauty of art. Whether they are copies of masterpieces from antiquity or sculptures from recent centuries, like this torso of Adonis, we add a touch of originality and exoticism to the favorite corners of the home. In the living room, these figures can become focal pieces that draw the eye and stimulate conversation, while in the library, garden, or office, they create a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere.
Decorating with reproductions inspired by neoclassical art helps us beautify our home and evoke the cultural greatness of past eras and civilizations that have left a lasting legacy in history.
