Description
Bas-relief of The Lady with the Ermine in moulded alabaster with applied oil polychromy and age patinas. Wooden frame gilded with estofados.
Measurements: Height: 104 cm. Width: 82 cm. Depth: 6 cm.
Bas-relief reproduction inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s (1452 – 1519) painting of The Lady with the Ermine. It is thought to depict Cecilia Gallerani, the mistress of the Duke of Milan Ludovico Sforza, portrayed holding an ermine in her arms. The painting underwent numerous later retouches, to the extent that Da Vinci’s authorship was doubted.
