Bust of Marcus Tullius Cicero in a reduced size from the original. This is Cicero the well-known jurist, politician, writer, orator and philosopher of the ancient Roman period. One of the greatest rhetoricians and Latin prose stylists of the Roman Republic, this bust can be found in the Prado and plays an important role in the identification of Cicero’s portrait, as it bears the inscription of the name of the famous Roman orator (106-43 B.C.) on the rectangular tablet of the pedestal, which is attached to the bust, is the abbreviated inscription: “M.CICERO AN. LXIIII”.
