Measurements:Width: 17 cm x Depth: 12 cm x Height: 44 cm
In this statue we reproduce a sculpture of Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom and war. In this statue Athena is represented armed with a helmet, spear, aegis or armor and shield.
Athena was born from the head of the king of the gods, Zeus, already adult and armed. She was the protective goddess of the city of Athens, who dedicated her main temple, the Parthenon, located on the Acropolis. The temple housed a colossal statue of Athena Parthenos (“the virgin”) by the great Athenian sculptor Phidias in marble and gold, and the pediments depict two scenes from the goddess’ life: her birth and her dispute with the sea god Poseidon for the patronage of Athens. She was also the protector of Greek heroes such as Perseus and Ulysses. Her attributes are the olive tree, the owl, the helmet, the spear, the aegis and the shield with the head of Medusa.
