Description
Model of the church of the Holy Sepulchre of Torres del Río, made of stone reconstituted with resin.
Dimensions: 13 cm (width) x 14 cm (height) x 13 cm (depth).
Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Torres del Río, Navarre. This is an octagonal construction with a semicircular apse on one side. Inside, there is an interesting Caliphate-style ribbed vault, formed by crossed ribs that leave a polygonal space in the centre. Above this structure is a second, open body, which is accessed by a spiral staircase known as the lantern of the dead. It seems to have been derived from those that existed in some French cemeteries. A small fire was lit there throughout the night to warn pilgrims and walkers.
