Figure of the Riace Bronze I. Reproduction of one of the two statues of the Riace Bronzes. Reproductions of sculptures inspired by original museum pieces. Classical art from ancient Greece.
The Riace Bronzes, also known as the Warriors of Riace, are two famous Greek bronze statues representing two nude bearded warriors. Known as “Bronze A” or “Young Warrior,” with long hair, and “Bronze B” or “Old Warrior,” with shorter hair, they date back to 460–420 B.C. This pair was discovered by a diver in 1972 under the sea near the Italian municipality of Riace. Their heights are 205 cm and 198 cm, respectively. The bronze statues are currently housed in the “Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia” in the city of Reggio Calabria.
Decorating interiors with reproductions of sculptures from classical antiquity, such as the Riace Bronzes, is an elegant and timeless way to add sophistication to our home spaces. They evoke and bring to life the grandeur of ancient Greece in modern times.
When incorporating reproductions of classical sculptures into interior decoration, it is essential to consider factors such as the size of the piece in relation to the space it will occupy, the lighting of the room, and the placement of the chosen piece relative to other elements such as furniture, textiles (curtains, rugs, tablecloths), and other decorative objects (paintings, vases, etc.) in the chosen space. Their presence helps create a unique and evocative atmosphere in our home.
