Relief of Varinia. It Represents the face of a young woman, who for the inspiration of the artist could be the Varinia wife of the mythical Spartacus. History tells us that Spartacus was born in Thrace in the fields of Silane, in the year 73 BC, where he managed to escape with 70 companions, including his beloved Varinia, and took refuge in the crater of Vesuvius.
