Model of the Portico of the Cathedral of Santa María de Vitoria, made of marble reconstituted with resin.

Measurements: 15 x 6 x 17 cm.

During the 14th century an important building boom took place in Vitoria. One example is the main doorway of the church of Santa María de Vitoria, one of the most monumental of Spanish Gothic architecture. The iconographic programme of the tympanum is dedicated to the Virgin, with scenes from the cycle of the Nativity and infancy of Christ, the Dormition, the Assumption and the Coronation. The Ascension and Pentecost complete the programme. The mullion features the figure of Mary with the Child and saints and saints on the sides.
