Description
Bridle made in lost wax molten bronze. Finished with antique patina.
Reproduction of a figure of Roman origin. Bronze bridle with the figure of the Capitoline she-wolf. The bridles were prestige items and were part of the chariots and were used to prevent the reins from getting tangled. These elements of the chariots were held in place by a central vertical body, which was almost always hollow. They had two highly decorated rings on either side through which the reins passed to prevent the reins from becoming entangled and the horses from not responding.
The original from Saragossa is on display in the Louvre Museum in Paris.
