Narmer Palette.
Dynasty I. Nekhen Temple
This ceremonial palette of King Narmer is one of the key pieces of the Egyptian Archaic period. In it appears King Narmer beating with his mace an enemy. Narmer is one of the first known pharaohs, successor of the mythical Egypt pre-dynastic. Possibly the piece commemorates an important battle won in the Nile Delta. The original is in the Cairo Museum.
