Description
Mosaic crafted in the Roman style, created from Picasso’s painting “Guernica“, in square and rectangular fragments.
Measurements: Height: 100 cm. Width: 200 cm.
Stone tile mosaic. Handmade in Spain.
Mosaics are pictorial works created with small pieces of stone, ceramic, glass, or other similar materials in various shapes and colors, called tesserae, joined with plaster or another binding material to form decorative geometric or figurative compositions.
This mosaic is currently handcrafted, following the ancient Roman technique of “opus tessellatum,” using cubic stone tesserae.
In its creation, 8mm natural stone and marble tesserae in various colors were used. The mosaic is fixed on mortar with a metal structure. Prepared to be hung on a wall or used as flooring.
This mosaic is an interpretation based on the painting “Guernica” (1937), by the painter Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), displayed in the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid.
