Description
The monastery of Guadalupe is one of the main religious symbol of Extremadura and Hispanic. Taken together styles merge Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. Its foundation dates from the Middle Ages and originated in the apparitions of the Virgin between 1317 and 1322. From 1340 began the reconstruction of the monastery through the impetus promoted by King Alfonso XI. In 1389 went to the Order of St. Jerome, and in those years was due to undertake the construction of the church was entrusted to Professor Alfonso, who was then also master Toledo Cathedral.
