Heracles or Hercules (Greek Ἡρακλῆς: “He who obtained glory from Hera”, Latin Hercules) is a Greek hero famous for his strength, who was granted divine honours and was admitted to Olympus.
He was the god of healing and oracles, protector of gymnasiums and palaces. Heracles-Hercules: Son of Alcmene and Zeus. He was a protégé of Athena.
His attributes are the skin of the Nemëan lion, the club, the bow and the quiver.
Author of innumerable exploits and adventures, such as the Twelve Labours. Herakles is the symbol of the strenuous hero, to whom later stoicism was to some extent attracted to his cause.
