Hand of Zeus carrying the thunderbolt (Ruins of Italica – Seville).
Zeus was the third of the sons of Cronus and Rhea, and the most important of them all. His birth was already marked by the struggle between his mother’s decision to save his life at all costs, and his father’s obsession with devouring him, in order to avoid, unsuccessfully, the prophecy of his parents, the gods Uranus and Gaea, that it would be one of his own children who would end up taking the throne from him.
