Reproduction of a Roman statuette of a Lar god. It forms part of the Lararium of the Roman Villa of Vilauba, Camós (Girona). The Lar is wearing a short tunic tied at the waist. He holds the palm of his hand open as if he were holding a panther, which has now been lost. With his left hand he is holding the end of a drum. He is presented on a pedestal.
The Lares, in Roman mythology, are the protective divinities of the home. In Roman houses they were worshipped in lararium, altars located near the hearth, together with the manes, the spirits of the ancestors, and the penates, protective genii.
Decorative elements, archaeological reproductions from antiquity. Ideal for decoration or as a gift.
