Reproduction of a sculpture inspired by Prince Paris, son of King Priam of Troy, a central character in the Iliad and the Trojan cycle.
In Greek literature, the Trojan cycle stands out, a series of epic poems of which the most important was Homer’s “Iliad.” The theme of this epic was the Trojan War, in which Paris played a prominent role as the trigger for the war, after abducting Helen as a result of the Apple of Discord judgment.
The Trojan prince Paris was chosen as the judge to award an apple to the most beautiful of three goddesses of Olympus: Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. Paris finally chose the goddess of Love, who promised him in return the most beautiful woman in Greece. This was Helen, the wife of the king of Sparta, Menelaus. After the abduction of Helen by Paris, Menelaus turned to his brother Agamemnon, the king of Mycenae, who declared war on Troy, initiating a conflict that would last for ten years. Near the end of the war, Paris was responsible for the death of Achilles, whom he shot with an arrow guided by Apollo, injuring him in the heel, the only weak point of the Achaean hero.
Interior decoration with reproductions of large classical sculptures inspired by figures from antiquity, such as this head of Paris, is an elegant and timeless way to add a touch of sophistication to the spaces in our home. These figures serve to enrich the decoration of our favorite interior spaces, such as libraries, offices, or living rooms. With these statues representing historical and mythological figures, we evoke and bring to our days the greatness of Ancient Greece.
