In Ancient Greek mythology, Hera is the wife and sister of Zeus, and one of the 12 Olympian gods. Hera’s mother was Rhea and her father Cronus. Her main function was the protection of women and marriage, as well as laws and institutions. Her counterpart in the religion of ancient Rome was Juno. The cow, the lion and the peacock were considered sacred to her.
