Reproduction of a figure of the goddess Artemis on a Corinthian column.
In Greek mythology, Artemis (Diana in Rome) was described as the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She was the goddess of hunting, wild animals, virgin nature and forests, childbirth, virginity and maidens. She was often depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows. The stag and the cypress were consecrated to her.
