Description
High quality figure made of reconstituted marble (marble powder and chronolite). Aging patinas with natural earths, to give the piece an antique look.Since the 15th century, the Lady of Justice has often been depicted blindfolded. The blindfold represents objectivity, in that justice is, or should be imposed objectively, without fear or favour, regardless of identity, money, power or weakness; blind and impartial justice. The first Roman coins represent Iustitia with the sword in one hand and the scales in the other, but with her eyes uncovered. Iustitia is only commonly depicted as “blind”, from the late 15th century. The first known representation of blind Iustitia is the statue of Hans Giengen from 1543 in the Gerechtigkeitsbrunnen (Fountain of Justice) in Bern.Total measurements: Width: 26 cm. Depth: 20 cm.
