Description
Reproduction of a figure of Roman origin made in lost wax bronze.
Measurements: 14.5 x 4 x 10.5 cm.
The original is in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid (M.A.N.).
This bronze figure of a bull in an attacking attitude was found in Azaila, dating from the Republican period. It was placed on a kind of pedestal. Although it dates back to the Roman period, the features of this piece are linked to the local sculptural tradition. It was found next to the local temple, which means that it can be attributed to the cult of pre-Roman divinities as an ex-voto.
