Recreation and reproduction of the statue of Our Lady of Montserrat or the Virgin of Montserrat, a statue of the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus venerated in the Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, in the mountain of Montserrat (Catalonia), a point of pilgrimage for believers and a must for tourists.
The Virgin of Montserrat is the patron saint of Catalonia. She is one of the Black Virgins of Europe, hence her familiar Catalan name, La Moreneta. Some believe it was carved in Jerusalem in the early days of the Church, it is more likely to be a Romanesque wooden sculpture from the late 12th century.
