Reproduction of a figure of Roman origin, made in bronze using the lost wax process.
The original is located in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid (M.A.N.)
Bronze sculpture, representing the goddess Venus, with an angled leg and open arms. The head with domed hair and collected in a low bun. On the sides of the neck hang two braids. It is also emphasized by a diadem. On neck she wears a necklace with a pendant in the middle in the form of a shell and 5 more on each side.
This type of bronze sculptures were part of the decoration and worship in the Roman houses. Venus was very popular, as it represents love and beauty.
The original is 39 x 22 cm in size and was part of the collection of Ruiz Nicoli. The figure was acquired by the state for the museum.
The piece dates from the first century AD.
