Statue of Liberty figure. The work of the sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and with a structure designed by Gustave Eiffel, this 93 m monumental copper sculpture (pedestal included) is one of the icons of the city of New York and the USA. It was donated by the French people to the United States in 1886 on the occasion of the centenary of the American country’s Declaration of Independence, and as a sign of friendship between the two countries, becoming a symbol of emancipation and hope, as well as freedom. It was inspired by Greek and Roman sculptures and depictions of the Colossus of Rhodes.
