In this figure we reproduce the statue “The Age of Bronze”, by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), the first important work by the French sculptor, thanks to which he would become known. The statue has other names, such as “L’Homme qui s’éveille” (The Man Who Awakens) or Le Vaincu (The Defeated). It caused a certain scandal in its time and evokes man in prehistoric times, before civilisation and writing. The original is in bronze, dating from 1877, and is in the Musée Rodin in Paris.
