Ferrer i Guàrdia. Reproduction of the commemorative statue in public recognition of the pedagogue Francisco Ferrer i Guàrdia by the city of Barcelona. Unjustly tried and shot in 1909 on Montjuïc, this monument is a replica of the one in Brussels, where he was also a great promoter of education and the so-called Modern School.

The original statue, made by the artist August Puttemans in bronze, represents a genius raising a torch towards the sky, and is today a symbol of free thought.
