Description
Reproduction of a figure of Roman origin made in lost wax bronze.
Measurements: 11 x 10 x 9.5 cm.
Reproduction of a Roman statuette of two goats. The original is in the National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida.
This figure represents two goats that are arranged in parallel, whose extremities are connected by two plates. The physical characteristics are accentuated by the incisions. This votive offering may have been dedicated to Ataecina, a syncretism of this Celtiberian goddess and the Roman Proserpina or Persephone, queen of the Afterlife. This piece was found in the bed of the Guadiana River in MedellÃn (Badajoz).
