Stele of Sant Jordi (Saint George). 15th century AD.
This medallion in high relief represents Sant Jordi (patron of Catalonia) on horseback and in battle with the Dragon. Sant Jordi appears with the characteristic armor of the time, the white harness and given the position of his arm, is supposed the existence of a spear, now missing.
It is one of the most beautiful sculptural works of the Catalan civil architecture and was made with stone from the quarries of Montjuïc in 1418 by Maestro Pere Joan.
The original is located in the Gothic portal of the palace of the Generalitat, Carrer del Bisbe (Barcelona).
