Leonidas (Leonidas I) was king of Sparta. He Led the Spartans during the Second Greco-Persian Wars, fighting the army of Xerxes I in defense of the Thermopylae (battle in which he found death in 480 Bc), and blocking the advance of Persian army. His sacrifice and bravery have served as an example numerous times and therefore his deed is one of the best known in Universal History.
