Heraclitus (540 – 580 BC) is considered one of the great philosophers of ancient Greece. He was inclined to search for the beginning of everything and put forward the view that everything is subject to change. For Heraclitus the universe is made up of opposites, i.e. there are contrary aspects that are connected with each other, which is a condition of the becoming of all things, because of its law and its principle.
A strong and reserved character, he withdrew into solitude to devote himself completely to thought.
