Archimedes was born in Syracuse, present-day Italy (287 BC – 212 BC). One of the most important scientists of classical antiquity. He was a Greek philosopher, astronomer, engineer, inventor and mathematician, of great methodical rigour and intuitive character. He is well known for his theories on hydrostatics and his principle of fluids.
