Nesmerutef scribe. 1300 BC. Late 18th Dynasty. The work of scribes in Egypt was considered of great importance. Consecrated to Thoth, their mission was to record truthfully all that they saw and heard, and they were required to keep all that they transcribed secret.
The original piece is in the Louvre Museum.
