Description
Reproduction of an instrument of Roman origin made in lost wax bronze.
Measurements: Length: 18 cm. Width: 2 cm. Depth: 1 cm.
The original is in the National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida.
Scalpellum or knife handle with a blade, perhaps with the same function. It dates to the 2nd century AD. This object was found in the eastern necropolis in Mérida (Badajoz), together with coins of Antoninus Pius and two cases of surgical instruments.
