The original piece, made of diorite, is exhibited at the Louvre Museum and dates to around 1300 BC, early in the 19th Dynasty. It is a detail from a stele found in the tomb of Dedia, master craftsman of Amun. It depicts the three main deities of the Egyptian pantheon: Osiris, Isis, and Horus. In the original piece, hieroglyphs of the three gods appear engraved around the figures, along with that of the vulture goddess Nekhebeth, the four stellar deities, and the city of Abydos, the primary place of worship of the god Osiris.

The gods represented, from right to left, are:

• Isis, goddess of motherhood, life, and magic. She is depicted with a throne or ladder on her head or with cow horns and the solar disk, as in this case.
• Osiris, god of fertility, death, and resurrection, king of the afterlife, and judge in the Judgment of souls. He appears mummified, wearing the white crown.
• Horus, the son of the previous two, with a falcon head and the royal double crown of Lower and Upper Egypt, protector god of royalty.
