Bust of Don Quixote-Bronze Patina. The sculpture we present is one of the most beautiful creations about the mythical figure of Don Quixote of La Mancha. His serene yet deeply thoughtful, dreamy, and enamored face expresses his ideal of “walking through a world of iron to turn it into a world of gold.”

“The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha,” written by Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616), is considered the masterpiece of Spanish literature. It was published in two parts, the first in 1605 and the second in 1615.

This novel tells the adventures of a dreamy nobleman, who goes mad from reading chivalry novels and becomes a knight-errant to combat injustice and help the defenseless. Don Quixote, accompanied by his faithful squire Sancho Panza, undertakes numerous exploits in search of justice and honor, inspired by his love for Dulcinea del Toboso, an idealized peasant woman; but his madness repeatedly clashes with reality, attacking windmills he believes to be giants and suffering mockery and mistreatment from others on numerous occasions.

Through Don Quixote‘s noble madness, Cervantes satirizes the society of his time and the human condition, exploring universal themes such as reality and illusion, identity, and madness. “Don Quixote” is not just mere entertainment, but also a profound psychological and philosophical study. The idealism of its character and the profound meaning it embodies have endured to this day, inspiring generations and leaving an indelible mark on world literature.
