Reproduction of Polykleitos´ Discophoros bust. A high-quality statue made of molded marble (marble powder with resin). Aging finish with the application of patinas based on natural earth, giving it the appearance of an original ancient sculpture.

The sculpture has a magnificent presence for use in interior decoration. Its texture and finish give it the appearance of an original marble statue on which several centuries of ageing have passed. The forms perfectly reproduce the original lines and proportions.
The Discophoros was a bronze sculpture by the classical Greek sculptor Polyclitus, creator of the Doriphorus and the Diadumenos. It dates from 450-440 BC. Like the Doryphoros and Diadumenos, it was created as an example of Polyclitus’ canon of the ideal human form in sculpture. It depicts a young, muscular, solidly built athlete in a moment of reflection ready to throw the discus.
The central theme of Polykleitos’ work was the representation of the ideal man. Through the canon he established, in which the total height was equivalent to seven times the measurement of the head, Polykleitos sought to represent not only physical perfection but also the harmony and symmetry that express Life. In his Canon, Polykleitos follows mathematical proportions based on the numerical relationships taught by Pythagoras, especially the golden ratio or golden proportion, an expression of the order and harmony of the Cosmos.
