This statue is a reproduction based on one of the marble copies sculpted in Roman times from the original Greek bronze. The original sculpture, now lost, was created by the Greek sculptor Polykleitos, one of the greatest exponents of Athenian classicism. It represents an athlete binding the ribbon, the “stéfanos,” to his forehead as a sign of victory in the Olympic Games. The Diadumenos is one of the sculptures that follows the canon established by Polykleitos for the ideal proportion of the male human figure, in which the total height of the statue equals seven times the height of its head.
Sculptures inspired by ancient art become focal points that stand out in any indoor or outdoor space, transforming them into a special and inspiring corner. The stone, bronze, or molded marble with resin used in the manufacture of these replicas are materials that withstand outdoor conditions well, ensuring their durability and resistance to outdoor exposure.
The incorporation of reproductions of large classical sculptures and famous works, such as this statue of the Diadumenos by Polykleitos, into the decoration of our gardens and terraces, allows these spaces to have a special touch of elegance and harmony. This masterpiece of Greek classical art, with its balance and serenity, creates a special atmosphere in our favorite outdoor corners. In these spaces, the figure of the athlete integrates with the surrounding vegetation, establishing a special dialogue between the beauty of art and nature.
