The original is in the Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia-Barcelona.

It is difficult to find in the Iberian Peninsula a Roman bronze sculpture as elaborate as this piece. It was found in Emporion (Ampurias) in a fountain near the great houses of the Roman city. The lady wears a hairstyle known as a wasp’s nest, which makes it possible to date the statue to this period. The eye sockets were filled with white paste with a porphyry disc in the middle to create the cornea. All these elements give the portrait great realism.
