The work “Psyche revived by the kiss of Love” is one of the most famous works by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova ( 1757- 1822 ), considered one of the best artists of Neoclassicism. It was completed in 1793, and represents the myth of Eros and Psyche. This myth, narrated by the Roman writer Apuleius in his novel The Golden Ass, tells the story of Eros falling in love with a mortal girl, Psyche, who has to overcome various obstacles and difficulties to win back the God of Love. Among its meanings is the union of the Soul (in Greek Psyché) and Love, following Platonic teachings.
