Spoon curved from Empuries. 15x3x2cm

Reproduction of a instrument of Roman origin, made in bronze using the lost wax process.

The original is located in the Museum of Empuries

Celso mentioned in the chapter on the consumption of medicines the use of the spoon for the administration of antidotes.  The pointed end of the spoon could be used to pick up the dry medicinal plants in the appropriate cases. The spoons were also used in ceremonial rites. This piece was found in Ampurias (Gerona).
