Description
A reproduction of an ancient Egyptian kneeling figure in reconstituted marble (marble powder plus binder). The ageing patinas are applied with natural earths.
Measurements: 20 x 20 x 44 cm.
This reproduction is inspired by the statue of Hor-wedja (son of the vizier Sasobek, the highest ranking official during the reign of Psammetichus, in ancient Egypt). The sculpture depicts the figure kneeling before the deity, but holding his head erect, expressing respect and trust.
It dates to between 640 and 620 BC. The original is in the Cairo Museum.
